Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Co. plans to expand its Fort Wayne operations and could add as many as 64 new jobs over the next two years.
The company, which provides property and casualty insurance to churches and related ministries, will add 26,000 square feet of office space to its 63,370-square-foot building on Brotherhood Way, at a cost of $5.2 million, according to a written statement from the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance.
Construction will begin next month and is expected to be completed in August 2010, according to the statement.
Brotherhood Mutual already employs about 260 full and part-time workers. The expansion is expected to help the company serve more customers across the country, according to the statement.
The Fort Wayne City Council will consider a 10-year tax abatement of $563,365 for the company. The city of Fort Wayne will offer a $65,000 grant, and WorkOne Northeast will offer $75,000 for job-specific training, $25,000 for recruitment and assessment services and $10,000 for computer training services.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. will give the company $700,000 in tax credits and $100,000 in Skills Enhancement Fund money.
