DUNLAP — Once again, a local school corporation is cutting administrative salary in a continuing effort to make ends meet. This time it’s Concord Community Schools.
On Monday school trustees approved a voluntary one-percent salary reduction for the administrative staff for the 2010 year.
Superintendent George Dyer explained that administrators did not receive salary increases in 2009 or the 2010 year, but instead the administrative teams asked the board to reduce salaries. The board took the action.
Dyer spent much of the Monday meeting reviewing possible cost savings for the year or two years ahead at Concord as school corporations throughout the state are struggling with massive reduction in state revenues.
“This is a work in progress,” Dyer said.
He said some changes have been made but there are many tough decisions down the road, after state funding was cut by more than $1.3 million for the coming year at Concord.
