ELKHART -- Crown International will trim the payroll at the Mishawaka Road facility by about 100 employees, according to a statement from the electronics manufacturer. The downsizing comes from a combination of voluntary and involuntary reductions.
Crown is part of Harman International.
The company stated that a competitive separation package, including severance benefits, job search assistance and training opportunities, has been offered to the affected workers. Prior to the cuts, the plant had about 450 employees.
Despite the reduction in staffing, Crown stressed it intends to keep the Elkhart facility operating.
"This location remains a key strategic center of excellence for amplifier design and manufacturing for Harman International," Crown stated in a press release.
