Fort Wayne City Council approves $55 million tax break for $850 million data center to be built by unknown Fortune 100 company

The Fortune 100 company behind Project Zodiac will save more than $55 million in property taxes over 10 years for its planned data center campus – but Fort Wayne taxpayers still don’t know who that is.

In a special meeting requested by Mayor Tom Henry, the City Council held a public hearing Friday and voted on the abatement and a taxpayer agreement for Project Zodiac, a development that’s expected to bring in $850 million in investment in its first of 10 phases. Attorney Tom Trent, who represents the developer, said the taxpayer agreement outlines the company and city’s obligations in the project.
