SOUTH BEND - A high-speed rail line from Chicago could stimulate South Bend's economy and ensure a prosperous future here, said the Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, president emeritus of the University of Notre Dame.
"I think apart from the University of Notre Dame and a few other promising local developments, the city would have a difficult time emerging from the departure of those many great industrial endeavors that have left the locality," Hesburgh said.
