Indiana tops nation in attracting foreign investment, study says

Indiana led the nation in attracting new jobs through foreign investment for the second consecutive year, according to the latest annual Global Location Trends report from IBM Global Business Services.

Indiana ranked first for per-capita job attraction through foreign investment in 2007 and was second overall for attracting production jobs from international companies.

The report, which logged more than 10,000 foreign investment project announcements made in 2007, included investments in Indiana by companies such as Foxconn, TS Tech, SMC Corp. of America and ArcelorMittal.

Since 2005, international companies have invested more than $8 billion into their Indiana operations, creating more than 15,800 new jobs, the Indiana Economic Development Corp. said in a statement.
