While the number of homes sold in Allen County decreased in July compared with the same month last year, the median sale price increased.
There were 408 units sold in Allen County in July, according to a report from the Indiana Association of Realtors. That was about 5 percent less than sales in July 2008.
But the median sale price in July 2009 was $107,250, up more than 7 percent from the same month last year, according to the report, which included data submitted as of Aug. 18.
LaGrange County sales were up more than 38 percent in July, increasing from 13 last year to 18 this year. Noble County sales increased more than 17 percent.
In Wells County, sales were down more than 45 percent in July compared with the same month in 2008. Adams County saw a 33-percent decrease and DeKalb County saw sales decrease about 29 percent. In Huntington County, sales were down about 17 percent.
Median sale prices increased in DeKalb, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Steuben and Whitley counties during July, compared to last year. They decreased in Adams, Elkhart, Huntington, Noble and Wells counties.
Statewide, sales were down more than 6 percent in July. The median sale price dropped less than 1 percent.
