Mishawaka cuts 25 city employees to save $1 million annually

MISHAWAKA - The layoffs of 25 employees announced earlier this week will amount to just over $1 million in annual savings, according to Mishawaka Mayor Jeff Rea, and $537,000 in savings by the end of this year.

Rea pointed out, however, that the savings isn't "extra" money for the city to use wherever it wants.The layoffs are in various departments, including police administration, parks, planning, water and electric utilities, business and code enforcement.
