It’s official. A school funding referendum to support MCCSC schools will be on the Nov. 2 ballot.
The Monroe County Community School Corp. board unanimously approved a resolution to that effect at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday. The board will set the precise length and levy amount for the referendum at a special meeting at 6 p.m. June 29.
The board was buoyed by detailed, positive survey results outlined by consultant Don Lifto during a work session that preceded Tuesday’s regular meeting.
A sampling of 401 registered voters in the MCCSC district conducted June 6-13 indicated, among many other things, that 69.1 percent of voters were inclined to favor a referendum even without knowing the particulars, and the approval percentage rose to 75.8 percent once contextual and cost benchmarks were included in the questioning.
