Navistar Inc. has agreed to purchase most of Monaco Coach Corp.'s recreational-vehicle manufacturing assets for about $52 million.
The transaction includes Monaco facilities in Indiana and Oregon. Navistar will own all Monaco RV brands, intellectual property, inventory and equipment related to Monaco's motorized and towable RV segments, according to a Monaco statement. The Motorhome Resorts segment, Roadmaster Cargo Trailer business and other industrial properties were not included in the sale.
The deal is expected to close June 1 and is subject to certain conditions as well as bankruptcy court approval.
Monaco Coach, which had facilities in Elkhart, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March. Proceeds from the transaction are expected to go to creditors.
Navistar is the parent of International Truck and Engine Corp., which has its Truck Development and Technology Center in Fort Wayne.
