The POET LLC ethanol plant in North Manchester is "95 percent complete" and will hold a Sept. 11 grand-opening ceremony, the company said in a statement.
The $105-million ethanol production facility is the 24th to be operated by South Dakota-based POET and the third in Indiana. Three more facilities across the country are under construction.
Once operational, the North Manchester plant will produce 65 million gallons of ethanol per year from more than 22 million bushels of locally grown corn, the company said. It expects to hire 40 workers and have an annual payroll of about $2 million.
POET produces and markets more than 1.3 billion gallons of ethanol annually.
The North Manchester facility will begin operations the week of Sept. 18, the company said.
