Elkhart and LaGrange counties had the highest seasonally adjusted unemployment rates in the state in November, according to preliminary figures released today by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Elkhart County was 12.4 percent, an increase from 10.7 percent in October. The unemployment rate in LaGrange County was 11.7 percent, up from 10.4 percent in October.
Seasonally adjusted unemployment rates in other northeast Indiana counties were: Noble, 10.9 percent; Adams, 9.6 percent; DeKalb, 9.1 percent; Steuben, 9.1 percent; Kosciusko, 8.8 percent; Wabash, 7.9 percent; Huntington, 7.5 percent; Whitley, 7.2 percent; Allen, 6.8 percent; and Wells, 6.5 percent.
For the state, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.1 percent in November, an increase from 6.4 percent in October.
Nationwide, the unemployment rate in November was 6.7 percent, up from 6.5 percent in October.
