Patriot Homes closing Middlebury operation, will lay off 125

Patriot Homes has announced it will be closing its Crystal Valley division in Middlebury. Crystal Valley manufactures both HUD-code and modular homes.

In a notice filed with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Patriot stated production at the plant will close by Jan. 23 and 125 workers will face layoffs.

The company noted that despite a "wonderful, dedicated staff" and improved production efficiency, the loss of floorplan financing, government contracts and declining market were too much to overcome.
