Property tax law leads to closing of Muncie libraries

MUNCIE -- Thirteen-year-old Tiffany Roberts researched fossil fuels earlier this academic year at Vivian Conley Library for a science project at Northside Middle School.

Roberts used a Conley computer Wednesday to surf the Web, estimating she visited the library, at 1824 E. Centennial Ave., about twice a week.

News that Muncie Public Library planned on closing the Conley branch June 1 -- along with the Local History and Genealogy branch, at 210 S. Jefferson St. downtown -- disappointed Roberts.
