Six Fort Wayne area GM dealers get notice franchises won't be renewed

FORT WAYNE - At least six area car and truck dealers are among the 1,100 to receive notice Friday from General Motors Corp. that their franchise agreements likely won't be renewed when they expire in October 2010.

Don Ayres Pontiac-GMC in Fort Wayne; Mendenhall-Roy Chevrolet Inc. in Grabill; Preferred Chevrolet-Pontiac in LaGrange; Bob Wysong Chevrolet-Pontiac in Cromwell; and Gene Reeg Motor Sales in Columbia City received letters saying they are underperforming.

Meyer GMC Trucks Inc. in North Manchester also got a letter, but that dealership had already planned to close.
