SOUTH BEND - The city has no plans to lay off police officers and firefighters this year but is letting go of nine city employees and making other cuts.
The Common Council has received a proposed ordinance for the cuts from the city administration for a first reading today. The public hearing and vote is scheduled for April 27.
City controller Catherine Fanello cited an estimated $2.4 million in cuts to the general fund and $330,210 to the parks general fund.
