INDIANAPOLIS - New estimates released Thursday by the Legislative Services Agency show property tax caps will save taxpayers $121 million less statewide in 2010 than originally expected.

Alternatively, it means local government units will not have to cut as much from their budgets as previously thought.

Republicans pushing to put the tax caps into the Indiana Constitution hope the new figures will allay fears expressed by some Democrats about the possible effects.
