United Way of Greater Lafayette weathering economy's tribulations

As the slumping economy takes its toll, social service agencies nationwide are coping with cuts in spending, staffing and programs.

One example close to home: The Community and Family Resource Center in Lafayette was stunned in January with the news of a 67 percent cut from the Indiana Department of Child Services.
