United Way of Putnam County not only met its goal of raising $160,000 but exceeded it by ten percent and possibly more.
"The goal was rather modest, but in light of the economic situation it is significant to note that it was not only met, but exceeded," said United Way of Putnam County Executive Director David English.
"Every penny collected is valued to the utmost. We will be only as strong as the community allows us to be. Even though the goal is met, it is not too late to still contribute. Remember 97 to 98 percent of what is raised stays in Putnam County," he noted.
English is particularly proud, as Putnam County is one of only six Indiana counties to meet their goals so far this year and one of two to exceed them. In fact, Putnam County has the highest percentage to date with 110 percent.
The United Way of Putnam County supports 15 member agencies.
