Workers say Rotary Lift has laid off 26 in Madison

Employees at Rotary Lift said the company laid off 26 workers Monday and reduced office worker salaries 5 percent.

The Rotary spokesman, John Podczerwinski, general manager of Rotary Lift North America and South America, was not available this morning.

In January, Rotary Lift laid off 33 employees as orders for vehicle lifts dropped as car dealers withheld buying lifts for their maintenance shops until the Detroit automotive industry stabilized.

The layoffs in January were 8 percent of the Madison work force.
