Muncie area manufacturing suffers setbacks with plant closings in 2006

The end of an era in local manufacturing came in spring 2006, when Manual Transmissions in Muncie closed. The closing of the former Chevrolet plant, hit hard by changes in the auto industry, put more than 200 employees out of work.
