EDITORIAL: Legislature misses mark on townships

Hoosier lawmakers appear to be playing it politically safe instead of genuinely reforming Indiana's antiquated county and township governments.

The House voted Thursday to approve a bill that would allow voters to decide whether to eliminate their township trustees and boards. The bill would transfer the township trustee and board duties to the county level.

It's a politically safe way to appear to appease those who have called for reform of local government, but it misses the mark.
