East Allen County Schools to trim $4 million from its 2011 budget

The East Allen County Schools board will consider asking parents to pay for full-day kindergarten, laying off teaching assistants and librarians and reducing extracurricular activities to cut $4 million from its 2011 budget.

The school board conducted its final public budget planning session Tuesday in front of about 80 residents. The board plans to vote on a budget-trimming proposal during its next meeting but has so far come to consensus on only a few cuts.
