Fort Wayne metropolitan area's unemployment declines for September 2009

Unemployment in the Fort Wayne metropolitan area declined for the third consecutive month, although more than 19,800 people remained out of work, according to figures released Wednesday.

The preliminary jobless rate for the three counties in the metropolitan area, Allen, Wells and Whitley, dropped to 9.5 percent from a revised 10 percent for August, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development said.
