Monroe County officials see tight times ahead in 2010

County officials expect Monroe County's fiscal health will be a paramount issue in 2010.

The county's financial situation was a substantial issue this year, as the Monroe County Council started fall budget talks expecting to cut $1 million from the county's bottom line. While a last-minute receipt of a much larger chunk of income tax revenue than expected meant plans to lay off employees were put on hold, most departments will move into the new year with fewer staff members.
