Cutting as many as 75 MCCSC teachers. Closing schools. Trying to raise money through a referendum.
Such topics were reluctantly raised today by Monroe County school officials in the wake of Gov. Mitch Daniels' announcement that the state will cut $300 million in funding for Indiana's K-12 public school districts.
Monroe County Community School Corp. officials estimate the eventual shortfall for the district could reach $3.8 million. Richland-Bean Blossom superintendent Steve Kain guessed his district could be out around $800,000.
