Adams-Wells Special Services Co-Op will eliminate another six special education teaching positions as a result of more than $350,000 in funding cuts.
On Friday the AWSSC board allowed Superintendent Michelle Neumann to move forward with the cuts.
Twenty teachers had received reduction-in-force notices. The board also approved Neumann’s recommendation they eliminate four instructional assistant positions paid through stimulus funds; reduce preschool teaching assistants from five days to just four days per week; and eliminate the secretarial position at the central office.
Neumann said federal stimulus funds had provided a short reprieve for some programs but now those funds were ending and so were the programs they paying for.
