MUNCIE -- Coming off the successful Governor's Arts Awards last week, the local arts community hopes to land what would be another victory for Muncie.
Working with local artists and art enthusiasts, the city government has applied for certain parts of town to be recognized as a state cultural district.
The district would involve downtown, Ball State University, Minnetrista Cultural Center and Heekin Park, which are home to numerous galleries, theaters, libraries and historic buildings.
