Richland-Bean Blossom may cut 17.5 teaching jobs, close alternative school

ELLETTSVILLE — It was Richland-Bean Blossom’s turn to contemplate proposed school budget cuts Monday night, including the potential loss of 17.5 teaching jobs out of the district’s staff of 200.

That and closing The Edge alternative school were just two elements in a list of possible cuts designed to carve more than $700,000 out of the R-BB budget that was delivered to the school board for its evaluation by Superintendent Steve Kain during a public meeting at Edgewood High School’s auditorium. The board could take action as early as next Monday, with a special evening meeting scheduled that will also be open to the public.
