NEW MARKET - For now, six teachers have had their contracts canceled due to the need of reduction in force and action taken by the South Montgomery School board Monday night.
High school teachers Adam Acton and Sara Booth, junior high teacher Kevin Wilkinson, Ladoga teacher Brooke Phelps and Walnut teachers Erin Barry and Joanie Stetler are now without a job as a result of cuts needed to be made by the school corporation. However, two of those teachers could be called back.
"We have two pending retirements, but I can't announce them because all the paper work has not been completed," Superintendent Dr. Bret Lewis said. "If those retirements do happen, we could call two of those teachers back, but for now they are gone at the end of the school year."
