Tippecanoe County schools cutting 20 percent of teachers for 2010-2011

Tippecanoe School Corp. will have 150 fewer teachers next school year.

The school board took a final, unanimous vote during an emotional Wednesday meeting to cancel the contracts of about 20 percent of TSC’s teaching staff through a reduction in force, or RIF. Seventeen teachers who originally received a RIF notice were spared as a result of retirements and resignations since early March.
