Cabela's planning store in Hoffman Estates, Illinois

Cabela's Web site is announcing its intention to build a destination store in Hoffman Estates.

Cabela's spokesman James Powell said the Hoffman Estates location did not preclude the building of a destination store in Hammond and that the two were not expected to cannibalize each other. He said the two markets were considered separate.

According to its Web site, Cabela's plans to locate the store within the Prairie Stone Business Park -- a 780-acre business park surrounded by a forest preserve -- at I-90 and Route 59, which also serves as the headquarters for Sears Holdings Corp.

Cabela's expects to open the Hoffman Estates retail showroom as early as summer of 2007.
