With the entire state under a water shortage warning and no end to Indiana’s drought in sight, a Purdue University expert fears what could be in store for local trees.
The drought will have long lasting effects on trees in Greater Lafayette and statewide, said Lindsey Purcell, a Purdue Extension urban forestry specialist.
All 92 Indiana counties are experiencing some level of drought with many listed in extreme drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Purcell spoke to the Journal & Courier Friday about how trees are fairing and what can be done to help them.
