As Bloomington’s worst drought in decades drags on, the Bloomington Parks and Recreation department is taking steps to make the most of the water it has on hand.
Mayor Mark Kruzan has enacted mandatory water use restrictions for Bloomington Utilities customers effective Monday, prompting a parks department that was already working hard to conserve to take additional steps to reduce the pressure on the city’s water treatment plant.
And the city has plans to use the water that would otherwise be drained from Griffy Lake and city pools to water its landscaping.
