ELKHART — Over the past month hundreds of Elkhart County residents have had no problem sharing ideas they would like to see implemented in their communities.
That energy and desire stems from a new initiative launched in January called Vibrant Communities. The initiative is designed to focus on projects that will make each community in the county a better place to live.
After the initial kickoff event in January, organizers have hosted town hall style “Community Conversations” throughout the county and encouraged participants to come up with ideas to improve their communities. In the past month, six conversations involving more than 500 people have taken place.
Dallas Bergl, co-chair of the Vibrant Communities initiative, said he has been impressed with the impact the movement has had on the entire community.
“I have spoken with Amish, Asian and black residents who all thought the initiative was great for the community,” he said. “It is great to see this initiative being able touch all areas of the community. Down the road that will help further our ideas.”
