Valero Energy Corp. (NYSE: VLO) will restart operations at its Linden ethanol processing plant within the next few weeks, the corporation’s spokesman said Thursday.

The Linden plant was temporarily idled in June, along with another Valero plant in Albion, Neb., after the Texas-based corporation decided unfavorable margins in the ethanol industry brought on by high corn prices warranted the action.

“This was more of a localized effect of high corn prices,” spokesman Bill Day said. “The timing was kind of bad, but we knew we’d get through it.”
