Scott County Council approves RDA ordinance to join Regional Cities Initiative

“Scott County is excited about being a part of the formation of the RDA,” Scott County Council President Iva Gasaway said in a news release. “We see the possibilities of our region receiving this designation, and we want Scott County to have input on naming the RDA’s Board of Directors as well as identifying and prioritizing regional projects that may receive funding.”

An RDA must first be established in order for counties to apply for the Regional Cities Initiative, a state program that will award $84 million split between two regions for redevelopment projects intended to attract talent.

Our Southern Indiana, a planning team for this region’s efforts, will approach the county councils of Clark, Floyd, Washington and Harrison with the ordinance to join the RDA.

Work on the application that is due Aug. 31 continues in the meantime.
