NEWBURGH — A 10th resident of The Village at Hamilton Pointe nursing home in Newburgh has died from complications of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

The resident, an 84-year-old man, died Monday, according to Warrick County Coroner Sarah Seaton. The coroner also reported the death of a ninth Hamilton Pointe resident, a 97-year-old woman, earlier in the day.

In addition to 10 Hamilton Pointe residents who have died from coronavirus-related complications, 12 residents at Signature HealthCARE nursing home in Newburgh and a Signature nurse have died.

Additionally, the Warrick County Health Department reports 34 still-active COVID-19 cases in nursing homes and 22 in the general public.

Of the 26 COVID-19 deaths in Warrick County, four deaths from the general public are attributed to the disease along with now 22 long-term care resident deaths. The Signature nurse's death is counted in Spencer County.
