A Chicago-based developer plans to build a 7-story, 181-unit apartment building at 2038 N. Walnut St., about a half mile northwest of Indiana University Memorial Stadium.

Filings with the city show the developer, Core Spaces, plans a “high-density residential” project with 426 bedrooms and some retail on roughly 2 acres.

The location formerly housed the Great Wall Chinese restaurant. It’s between the Hampton Inn to the north and the Verve apartment complex to the south.

A company spokeswoman said via email that the apartments will range from studios to five bedroom.

Katy Darnaby, managing director of communications, said Core Spaces expects the apartments to be available for the 2025-26 school year.
