Several changes will take effect in June to a bus route that helps shuttle Indianapolis-based workers to their jobs in Whitestown’s warehouse district.
The Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority launched the Workforce Connector program in 2015 to help people without reliable transportation get to their warehousing jobs in Plainfield and Whitestown.
The Whitestown Connector program, which operates six days a week and is free to riders, takes workers from an IndyGo bus stop in Indianapolis to e-commerce fulfillment centers that have been built along Interstate 65.
Businesses that can be accessed on the Whitestown Connector route are Amazon, Cummins, Delco Foods, Express Scripts, GNC, Pitney-Bowes, Rego-Fix and Shein.
On June 2, the Whitestown Connector connection point with IndyGo will move from Trader’s Point Shopping Center to Lafayette Square Mall on the east side of Lafayette Road.
Additionally, several stops will relocate to new areas near the e-commerce fulfillment centers in Whitestown.
The current Stops 2, 3 and 15 will be eliminated due to low ridership. Stops 4, 6, 7 and 8 will move across the street from their current locations. A new stop is also being added near the Shein distribution center.

“Whitestown is experiencing significant growth, and this transportation service and the route enhancements will help to deliver more workers to the businesses here,” Todd Barker, director of development services with the town of Whitestown, said in written remarks.
A public hearing to review the route changes will be held at noon May 8 at CIRTA’s offices at 320 N. Meridian St., Suite 920.
