SOUTH BEND — South Bend International Airport (SBN) announced a new, daily nonstop flight between South Bend and Washington, D.C., that will being Dec. 3, according to a press release from SBN.

United Airlines will provide service from South Bend to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) with flights leaving Dulles at 6 p.m. and arriving in South Bend at 8 p.m. and departing South Bend at 10 a.m. and arriving at Dulles at 11:45 a.m., the press release said.

“We are thrilled to have United offer a second destination from SBN,” SBN CEO and Executive Director Mike Daigle said in the press release. “The daily service will allow for easy connections to 135 domestic and international markets. For travelers with a final destination of Washington D.C., the Silver Line Metro station at Dulles provides access to trains via an indoor pedestrian walkway from the airport to downtown.”

The flight will operate on an Embraer E-175 with 12 United First, 32 United Economy Plus and 26 United Economy seats.

With the addition since August of Breeze Airways and its flights to Florida and Washington, D.C., to its list of carriers — Allegiant AirAmerican AirlinesBreeze AirwaysDelta Air Lines and United — SBN has been adding new flights and destinations recently. It also has been making improvements to the airport, including a new jet gate and business center.
