Lippert Components Inc. plans to consolidate a couple of plants within Elkhart County at a newly outfitted facility there with more space.
LCI makes bedding and seating for the recreational-vehicle, manufactured-housing and specialty-trailer industries.
Without saying how many employees handle production at the plants that will close, LCI said it will employ more at the new manufacturing facility, which will be part of a new Lippert Interior Solutions division.
Jason Lippert, the company’s chief executive officer, said in a statement the new division will result from a rebranding of LCI’s Homestyle division in Idaho and Michiana Mattress division in Goshen, as well as the plant realignment.
“We want to bring all of our plants that are manufacturing furniture, seating and mattress products under one brand name with a new focus on putting out the best product available on the market for RV OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and other niches,” he said.
The statement said Lippert Interior Solutions would employ 300 under the direction of Mark Taylor, general manager, and Ryan Smith, sales vice president.
Todd Driver, the division’s vice president and national operations manager, said in the statement the consolidation and expansion into a larger facility would “allow us to ‘lean up’ the operation, improve workflow and consolidate raw materials and manufacturing.”
“Consolidating the wood division, the steel division and the foam-cutting operation streamlines management and communications and accelerates production and product development, while increasing quality control and improving design,” Jeff Few, LCI product development director, said in the statement.
