Several retail locations owned by Spurling Properties are getting new tenants.

House of Bluez, a specialty denim boutique, and Max Muscle, a nutritional supplement and sports apparel store, are locating in Metro Village at Metro Avenue and East Virginia Street.

Jodi Merrick, owner of the denim boutique, planned a soft opening this week. A former associate of The Buckle and Express Men stores in Eastland Mall, she will carry a variety of designer jeans, along with graphic t-shirts and other apparel. Steve Ringeman, a former vice president of operations at Indiana Tube, and his wife, Debbie, have the Max Muscle franchise operation. They also planned a soft opening for possibly this week.

"Our store will help lead the community toward nutrition," said Steve Ringeman.

He said printed educational materials on nutrition will be offered in a portion of the store, and nutrition workshops and seminars may be held in the future. In addition, the Ringemans plan to open a 24-hour Snap Fitness Center around Sept. 8 in Northbrook Shopping Center, owned by David Nelson.

Shane Lewis plans to locate his Tai Kwon Do Academy in the Spurlings' Lakeside Commons, just north of Schnucks, on North Green River Road, according to Andy Spurling, a partner in the properties development and management company.

It Can Be Arranged, a floral and gift shop owned by Steve Biever, is expected to open Aug. 27 in the Spurlings' Merchants Plaza at 4313 Morgan Avenue, Suite B.

Biever has been in the floral business for 25 years and most recently was with Snodgrass Floral.

A second store, Aquatech Dive and Travel, owned by Larry Babcock, also is locating in Merchants Plaza, according to Tim Spurling of Spurling Properties.
