WEST LAFAYETTE — All Purdue University students must complete one more test before admission to classes for the 2020-2021 year: A coronavirus test.

"Purdue University announced today ... that it is formulating plans to require and pay for all West Lafayette-bound students to be tested for COVID-19 before moving into residence halls and attending classes this August," the Protect Purdue website announced Wednesday morning.

Purdue will cover the cost of testing the 40,000 students expected to arrive in August.

The mandatory tests are for all students attending classes at the West Lafayette campus.

Students will soon be getting information through the Protect Purdue initiative about how and when to get tested. The tests should be completed in early August before returning to campus, according to the Protest Purdue website.
