ANDERSON - The unemployment rate in Madison County reached 10.9 percent in February, according to the latest figures from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
The overall unemployment rate for the state of Indiana in February was 10.1 percent (not seasonably adjusted). By comparison, the unemployment rate for Tipton County was 12.6 percent, Grant County and Henry County were 12.1 percent, Delaware County was 9.9 percent, Hancock County was 8.3 percent and Hamilton County 6 percent.
An estimated 12 million Americans are unemployed, including around 300,000 Hoosiers.
