ELKHART — With the merger of Thor Industries and Jayco, two of Elkhart County's largest companies are now combined.
The merger further cements Thor's position as the world's leader in RV manufacturing. Jayco was the third largest RV maker before the deal was announced.
Here's what joining the two companies means in raw numbers:
• Before the merger, Thor and Jayco combined for about $5.5 billion in sales and $270 million in profits for 2015. Thor reported sales of more than $4 billion with a net profit of nearly $200 million. Jayco reported sales of $1.5 billion in 2015 with a net profit of $70 million.
• The merger vaults Thor from 591 on the Fortune 500 list of the largest companies to around 450. Other companies in that range include Mattel (which makes Barbie dolls), Clorox, Motorola Solutions and St. Jude Medical.
