ELKHART — One of the former EverGreen RV buildings didn’t stay empty for long.
Dutchmen Manufacturing, a unit of Thor Industries.’s Keystone RV subsidiary, announced Tuesday afternoon it had purchased a new facility to help increase production and create 150 jobs.
Mark Dobson, president and CEO of the Economic Development Corp. of Elkhart County, confirmed the facility was the former Lifestyle Luxury RV plant, north of Middlebury, once owned by EverGreen RV.
The plant, located southwest of the former EverGreen headquarters along the Indiana Toll Road, will provide 100,000 square feet of additional production space for Dutchmen.
EverGreen RV shut its doors June 10, laying off 287 employees and leaving some experts surprised as the recreational vehicle industry, in general, is booming right now.
Troy James, president of Dutchmen, said the additional space was necessary because of the high demand for Dutchmen products.
