Indiana Grand Casino saw decreases in both total win numbers and taxable AGR from March to April, but management expected a decline in revenue.
“March is probably the busiest month of the year, and April also had Easter weekend, which is typically slow, and the tax deadline,” said Jim Brown, Indiana Grand’s general manager and president and COO of Centaur Gaming. “Revenue did decline, but it was expected to decline.”
Indiana Grand’s total win numbers for April were $20,387,035, down from $23,424,288 in March, according to the Indiana Gaming Commission’s monthly report.
The casino’s taxable AGR decreased from $21,432,170 in March to $18,648,810 in April.
In April 2013, Indiana Grand’s total win numbers were $21,466,034 while the taxable AGR was $18,236,586.
Brown said Centaur was happy with April results at Indiana Grand.
“In April we had the third best player payback percentages in the state, so the third loosest slots out of 13 casinos in Indiana,” he said. “That’s something we’ve been striving for.
“So revenue was slightly lower, our player payback percentages were better,” he said. “We didn’t start thoroughbred racing this year until May, so that made an impact on activity. But our head counts were strong.”
