Elkhart's Monaco Coach 4Q 2007 revenue slightly lower than previous year

Elkhart-based Monaco Coach Corp. reported $292.1 million in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2007, which was 2.4 percent lower than the $299.2 million in revenue during the prior-year period.

Gross profit for the fourth quarter was $32.1 million, up 18.6 percent from $27.1 million a year ago. The company reported operating income of $4.5 million for the quarter compared to an operating loss of $512,000 for the fourth quarter of 2006.

The company reported net income of $2.7 million, reversing a net loss of $562,000 in the fourth quarter of 2006. Earnings were 9 cents per diluted share in the fourth quarter of 2007 versus a loss of 2 cents per diluted share in the fourth quarter of 2006.

For the fiscal year ended Dec. 29, Monaco Coach reported revenue of $1.3 billion, which was level with fiscal-year 2006 revenue. Gross profit for the year was $140.9 million, up 13.1 percent from $124.5 million in 2006.

Operating income for the year was $23.4 million compared to $3.8 million in 2006. Net income for 2007 was $12.3 million compared to $1 million in 2006. Earnings per share for the fiscal year were $41 cents per diluted share compared to 3 cents per diluted share in 2006.
