Wakarusa: VP dispels Monaco Coach rumors of moving production back to Elkhart

WAKARUSA -- Rumors floating around the Monaco Coach Corp. facilities that the towable production lines will be moving back to Elkhart are untrue, said Richard Bond, senior vice president, chief administrative officer and secretary at the Wakarusa facility.

We have "no plans in place or in prospect for any significant relocation of operations," he said Friday.

The Elkhart mayor's office also followed up on the information and, according to Arvis Dawson, city spokesman, there is "no truth" to the rumor.

In 2007, the recreational vehicle manufacturer shifted its towable production to its plants in Wakarusa and Warsaw. It subsequently returned a tax abatement to the City of Elkhart.

All employees in Elkhart were offered jobs at the other plants.

Bond said he did not know what might have sparked such rumors.
